A Lone Canada Goose

Canada geese mate for life and that's usually why you rarely see just one by itself, especially in April. I spotted this one sitting on the log and when I went down to the water to get a better picture, it just slowly went away from me all by itself. Maybe it is just a loner like myself, but I hope by now, 3 weeks later, it is guarding a nest. That 2nd photo is a good one for me.

Old South Pit #4

Going along these woods to pit #4 where grandpa and me caught alot of bass and bluegills back in the 50's & 60's. It seems to be shallower but just as beautiful as back in the days of yore.

Strip Pit Hiking

Went hill and slope climbing at the Old South Strip Pit 4/9/09 for 3 outstanding hours and so for the next several posts, it will all be about that day. Forgot my fishing rod. Too bad, but I'll do that this fall if I'm still of this earth.

Creek Sunbeams

It was hot and humid this morning in the creek bed. Makes for good sunrise pictures. Kind of shows what you are breathing. Good or bad I'll take it.

Creek Mysteries

I have 2 photos here of creek sand & gravel bars. 1st one is easy to see what happened. Racoon digging out a mussel. The 2nd tho is something I need to be told what it is. I have waded and fished the creek for over a half century and see this all along the creek and still don't know. So somebody say something. I am guessing maybe a turtle does it.

Cahokia Point

Found this Cahokia Point in Vermillion County Indiana 170 miles from the Cahokia Mounds. Wonder how it travelled here and what happened to the person carrying it along Brouilletts Creek.
